Every template below is marketing category. Cart recovery starts with the store toward somebody who completed no transaction, and that is how Meta classifies it — even in a service tone. Filing it as utility does not fool the review: the template is reclassified and the price follows.
They are grouped by objection, because the message that works depends on why the cart was abandoned. When you do not know the reason — the usual case — start with the first four.
First: what decides the outcome
- Timing. Between 30 minutes and 2 hours after abandonment is where conversion concentrates.
- The link. Straight to the assembled cart, never the homepage.
- One message, not three. The second converts little and costs a lot in blocks.
- No discount in the first one. You pay a discount to people who might have bought anyway.
When you do not know the reason
“Hi {{1}}! I saw you left {{2}} in your cart. I’ve saved everything for you — pick up where you left off: {{3}}”
“{{1}}, your cart with {{2}} is still saved. Finishing takes less than a minute: {{3}}”
“So close, {{1}}! I’ve kept {{2}} aside in your cart: {{3}}”
“{{1}}, your cart at {{2}} is still here. If you’d like to finish, this is the link: {{3}}”
When the objection looks like doubt about the product
These work well for higher-ticket items, technical products and first purchases:
“Hi {{1}}. Any questions about {{2}}? Reply here and I’ll help — and if you’d rather just finish, your cart is saved: {{3}}”
“{{1}}, about the {{2}} you picked out: any question about sizing, delivery or use, just reply to this message.”
These two convert less into direct sales and more into conversation — which is usually better: the reply opens the 24-hour window and support becomes free-form text, at no cost.
When the objection looks like shipping or delivery time
“{{1}}, your cart with {{2}} is saved. Delivery to your area takes {{3}}: {{4}}”
“Hi {{1}}! Confirmed: {{2}} arrives within {{3}} where you are. Your cart is still held: {{4}}”
When stock is genuinely the argument
Only use these if they are true. Invented urgency fails review and burns customer trust:
“{{1}}, I’ve held your cart for another 24 hours. After that the items go back to general stock: {{2}}”
“Hi {{1}}. The {{2}} you picked is down to the last few. Your cart is still here: {{3}}”
False scarcity is the fastest way to get a template rejected and a number reported. If stock is not running out, pick another angle.
A second message, when it is justified
It rarely pays — and when it does, it is for a high-value cart, 24 hours later, with something new to say:
“{{1}}, your cart with {{2}} expires today. If you’d like, I can cover shipping to close it: {{3}}”
“{{1}}, last time I’ll write about this: your cart with {{2}} is here until {{3}}. After that I’ll stop.”
The second works because it promises to stop — and you have to keep that promise. It is the difference between a customer who comes back and one who blocks.
What to avoid in the copy
- "Last chance", "don’t miss out", "urgent" — artificial pressure fails review.
- Just the link — a message that is essentially one variable does not pass.
- No store identification — the customer does not know who is writing and blocks.
- Excessive emoji — it weighs on the review and on the spam perception.
- A discount in the first message — it teaches your base to abandon carts to earn coupons.

Frequently asked questions
Is a cart recovery message utility or marketing?
Marketing, always — even in a service tone. Meta reclassifies anyone who files it as utility.
How long after abandonment should I send?
Between 30 minutes and 2 hours. Sooner reads as surveillance; much later and the decision was made elsewhere.
Do I need opt-in for cart recovery?
You do. It is marketing, and without consent the block rate climbs — which lowers the number’s quality and your sending limit.
Can I include a coupon?
You can, but save it for the second message or for high-value carts. A discount in the first one gives away margin on people who were going to buy anyway.
